Infosys, Wipro Bangalore projects cleared25.05.10 Vishnu Shankar Jarugumilli www.crorepatihomes.net The State High-Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC), chaired by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, on Monday the 24th May 2010, approved investments amounting to Rs. 58,518 crore in 60 projects. The investments are expected to generate employment for about 3.07 lakh people. Infosys is set to utilise its own 300 + acres of land on Sarjapur – Attibele Road near Indus international school for a new software development centre with an investment of Rs. 2,250 crore. The company also plans to establish another centre near Devanahalli, with an investment of Rs. 710 crore. Similarly, Wipro Limited has been given permission to set up a Greenfield IT park over 50 acres of land in the city at a cost of Rs 537 crores. For the two IT giants, this comes as a major relief as the proposals were hanging fire for a long time, leading to a visible frustration from the companies concerned.
Infy’s presence in Devanahalli will be a major boost to that area which is fast attracting multi billion dollors of investment. Many projects are lined up even outside the ITIR, Devanahalli which in itself will be a huge hub of the IT sector. Apart from Shell’s R&D centre, a photovoltaic power project by Moserbaer with an investment of 1000crores, IFCI’s financial city with 1000crore investment and JUSTDIAL’s IT centre with 450 crores are some of the other investments lined up in Devanahalli.
